In College Forever

A common question I get since I’ve gone back in school is:

“What are you?”

*Stares blankly* Umm…What?

What year are you?

Click to read her story! It's never too late...

Ohh…umm, I don’t know! I’ve been in school forever! A junior I guess…

Really? How old are you?

*annoyed* umm, 23!

Wow your old…

*blinks twice*

*walk away*

No, they’re not that rude but I always find myself in the same situation. I always have to explain why I’m still in school, and why I don’t have a B.A after studying Architecture for five years.

I’m an “A” student so it’s not my grades.

It’s actually the result of moving from one country to another and the school requirement. It’s the fact that each Architecture program has it’s own requirements, and is only limited to a certain amount of students.

It’s the fact that I didn’t want to wait until I was 27 to have my first baby –who’s 16 months now :).

Life just got in the way. I got bit in the tosh by the american educational system, but you win some you lose some. In my case I’m hoping to win it all.

I’ve gone through a point where I was frustrated, but it was my motivation to work hard so I could finish soon.

Most people would have quit by now, but quitting was never one of my traits.

How long have you been in school? What obstacles have you had to come by? Did you take some time off?
